Jamie Noel Hannah only lived on this earth for two years, but her enduring spirit continues to live on and help others.
In 2004, little Jamie was born with a rare congenital heart defect (CHD) called Corrected Transposition of the Great Vessels. She also had a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) that also complicated her disease. She was treated by pediatric cardiologist Dr. John McCloskey of Northwest Children’s Heart Care in Tacoma, Washington. After enduring multiple surgeries and medications, the beautiful angel sadly passed away. Her heartbroken family decided to honor their daughter’s memory by helping others going through similar situations.
Established in 2007, Jamie’s Heart Foundation assists families who are battling childhood heart disease. The foundation supports and networks with other community organizations that provide direct family support and services to children diagnosed with CHD and their families. The foundation also directly provides assistance to these families and their children in the Pacific Northwest.
Jamie’s Heart Foundation provides:
Uncompensated medical expenses: Pays for non-covered or uncompensated medical expenses, such as medications, co-pays, dietary needs, etc.
Family Housing: Provides housing for out-of-town families who are traveling to receive treatment. If the family does not qualify for the Ronald McDonald house or it is full, the foundation will pay to house the family in a nearby hotel.
Travel: Finds discounted airfare and pay for travel costs when the family has to travel away from home to care for their child.
Encouragement: Finds ways to support the family and children through hospital visits, care packages, baskets, etc.
Activities: Provide opportunities for family and children to enjoy area attractions while away from home. These may include tickets to sporting events, zoos, children museums, and other attractions.
Jamie’s Heart Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization run by an amazing Board of Directors.
