We here at What’s Up Northwest love shining the light on local businesses with our readers. When we had the opportunity to share the story of Bellevue, Washington’s CHERRiSH, we jumped on the chance to try out the super juices. They sent us six cans of their Montmorency and Bing Cherry Juices and we spent some time taste testing the three different flavors they offer, Cherry, Cherry Pomegranate, and Cherry Blueberry.

CHERRiSH’s website presents some of the extensive research that has gone into the study of the health benefits of cherries. Cherries contain anti-inflammatory properties, are high in antioxidants and have many sleep benefits.  They combine Montmorency and Bing cherries, making CHERRiSH a potent anti-inflammatory that reduces symptoms of exercise-induced muscle damage and speeds muscle recovery, contains a high amount of anthocyanins and contains high-levels of melatonin which is associated with improved sleep quality. CHERRiSH founder, Dan Haggert, a workout enthusiast, created the juices for himself to aid in the recovery process.

CHERRiSH works directly with professional sports teams’ trainers and nutritionists to promote natural health and recovery.  The Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Sounders, Philadelphia Eagles, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, New York Yankees, and Washington Nationals are only some of the professional sports teams CHERRiSH works with.  They also work with NCAA teams including University of Washington, Oregon State University, Seattle University, UCLA, USC and Notre Dame to name a few.

So you know that cherries have many health benefits and professional athletes use CHERRiSH to recover after games.  But how do they taste?

Each 8 oz sports can has 114 calories, 32 carbs and contains only three to four ingredients, depending on the flavor. They are non-GMO, gluten free, have a low glycemic index and have no added sugar. Of the three, Cherry Blueberry is my favorite.  You can smell the blueberry right as you pop open the can and I really like the flavors together.  Cherry Pomegranate would be my second favorite followed by Cherry.  I don’t normally like anything that is cherry flavored (except Rainier Cherries, I could eat those everyday for the rest of my life), but I could definitely see myself incorporating CHERRiSH into my daily CrossFit workout regimen to help with my muscle recovery.
