Bring the entire family out to the beautiful Cheney Stadium the week of July 10th as the Tacoma Rainiers host the 2017 CHI Franciscan Health Triple-A All-Star Game. This game will mark the 30th anniversary of the Triple-A All-Star game and will be televised nationally on MLB Network.
The Rainiers have two days of celebrations planned for their first time hosting the Triple-A All-Star Game. Bring the baseball mitts on Monday, July 10 for the 2017 Triple-A Home Run Derby presented by Alaska USA Federal Credit Union to catch as many home run souvenirs as you can. The best and brightest prospects from the Pacific Coast League and International League will meet for the CHI Franciscan Health Triple-A All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 12 under the stunning Pacific Northwest skies for will no doubt prove to be a perfect evening for the family.
The All-Star Game comes to Tacoma as Cheney Stadium reveals spectacular new stadium developments and upgrades.
You’ll notice the first difference right as you walk in. New Tacoma-themed wraps encompass the entire stadium and are visible throughout the seating bowl from every angle. The new wraps were designed by Tacoma Rainiers Creative Director, Tony Canepa, and feature historic and iconic landmarks of Tacoma, including Mt. Rainier, the Tacoma Dome, Chambers Bay, and more.
The stadium also boasts a brand new 9,670 square-foot family pavilion along the first base side of the stadium. The pavilion includes a playground and a fun Wiffle ball field for the kids that is open year-round for the public to enjoy.
The stadium now has a new party deck as well, located down the left field line. The deck includes professional baseball’s only fan fire pit, spanning 25 feet, as well as new local food vendors and a fully stocked bar.
The Tacoma Rainiers and Seattle Sounders also recently announced they signed an MOU with the intention to move the Sounders 2 USL franchise to a new 5,000-seat, soccer-specific stadium on the footprint of Cheney Stadium, by the 2020 soccer season.
