The three day festival for the entire family will include a bean bag competition, balloon toss and a ride with “Bat Girl” in her “Batmobile” for the kids and a beer garden for the adults!  You can also bring your own alcohol, just leave the weapons at home!!

There will be some delicious food vendors out covering meals all day long during the weekend! You can stay all three days with available camping and RV spaces (hook ups are sold out).

I had a chance to chat with one of the festival’s co-founders, Jim May, to learn more about the history behind the music.

Jim May is an accountant and Tom Finken was an electrician.   Both men were partners in Zacky’s Backroad Adventures, a motorcycle touring company that has now evolved into a group of friends that ride to support two charities, the Burned Children’s Recovery Foundation (BCRF) and Seattle Children’s Hospital.

Tom had a dream of planning a music festival, and while it took him a few years, he finally convinced Jim to do it. Having never forayed into this type of territory before, they built a stage and just went for it, planning the first Sage Creek Music Festival in 2016…..and it flopped.

Then tragedy struck in the late summer of 2016 and Tom was killed in a motorcycle accident. Devastated but more determined than ever, Jim continued Tom’s dream of the Sage Creek Music Festival.  With the help of Zacky’s Backroad Adventures, all the net proceeds from the festival will go to BCRF.  Everyone involved in making the festival happen are volunteering their time.  Even the bands hitting the stage are playing for far less than they normally would play for.  Tom’s dream is being honored and through him, children who are recovering from severe burns will get the support they need to face life each day.

The BCRF mission is to provide counseling and financial aid to families of burned children and also offer two recovery programs to the children and their family. Phoenix House is a 10 bed recovery center for recluse and high trauma children struggling in their recovery. Camp Phoenix is their National Burned Children’s Recovery Camp for burned children. Attending both programs is an important step to the recovery of the child.
