With winter break just around the corner for many Washington State families, we here at What’s Up NW wanted to get Seattle Chocolate’s deliciously fun and educational “Experience Chocolate” tours on your radars! If you plan on staying in town for the holidays or have family coming to visit, take them over to The Seattle Chocolate Factory tour!
These immersive tours gives an insider’s look into the daily operations of the factory and the chocolate-making process from bean to bar. Highlights of the tours include:
- Learning about the history of chocolate and the cacao plant in the Chocolate Classroom.
- Discovering what makes a truffle a truffle and watch “live” how a truffle flavor is carefully crafted, poured, molded, shaken and then run through a chocolate waterfall before it’s finally cooled and packaged.
- Experiencing a smorgasbord of chocolate samples in the Tasting Room, where you’ll explore different chocolate varieties and flavor combinations based on what is being made fresh that day.
During winter break, tours will be offered at the Seattle Chocolate Factory on December 19, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29 and 30. Tickets can be purchased online here and cost $10. Due to safety reasons, no children under the age of 6 are permitted.
In addition to tasting, experiencing, and discovering all things chocolate, guests can complete their holiday shopping at the Seattle Chocolate Flagship store. The store offers a wide selection of locally crafted jcoco and Seattle Chocolate products, including chocolate truffle bars, truffles in more than 20 flavors, chocolate tasting flights, handmade caramels from Whidbey Island, and a variety of other deliciously unique gifts. For every Seattle Chocolate bar or jcoco chocolate bar purchased, Seattle Chocolate will donate a serving of fresh food to a person in need through Northwest Harvest. Visit the store before or after your tour. Flagship store hours are Monday – Saturday, 10am – 5pm.
