Elysian Brewing

This Valentine’s Day, treat your partner, galentine or best bro to a decadent, full-bodied cocktail that serves as an excellent finishing touch to a Valentine’s Day date – or perhaps as a remedy for suffering lovers indulging away a recent Bitter Split. Elysian Brewing has crafted the perfect beer-based beverage to impress cocktail connoisseurs and brew enthusiasts alike. The Bitter Split is a rich and well-rounded concoction combining Elysian’s Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout with hints of almond, blackberry and Angostura bitters. The cocktail is available for purchase at all Elysian pubs now through Valentine’s Day.
The Bitter Split
Ingredients:
• 3 oz of Elysian Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout
• .5 oz of Angostura Bitters
• .5 oz of Giffard Orgeat (almond sugar syrup)
• .5 oz of Blackberry Liqueur (such as Giffard Mure)
• Dollop of heavy whipped cream (if desired for presentation)
Instructions:
• Combine Bitters, Orgeat and Blackberry liqueur
• Pour over crushed ice, shake and strain into goblet style glass
• Add Elysian Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout
• If desired, gently add a dollop of heavy whipped cream on top of cocktail and take straw to lightly swirl cream throughout cocktail
Inspiration behind cocktail:
Angostura bitters is found in almost every bar, yet aside from being used sparingly in Manhattans or Old-Fashions, this ingredient is often overlooked. Blending the bitters with almond syrup and blackberry liqueur creates a rich, full-bodied combination that complements the coffee in Elysian’s Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout.
