Grab everything pink out of your closet and your dancing shoes for the 7th Annual Dance in Pink Fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation this Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Northshore Senior Center in Bothell!
The community event combines Zumba, Bollywood, Refit, Tabata and fitness. Come shake as much or little as you like with certified instructors who are volunteering their time to help shake our boobies and booties in celebration of life for those who are fighting, have fought or are loved and missed.
The afternoon will include dancing, drawings, raffle baskets, vendors, photo booth and more.
All the money collected will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the non-profit that has transformed how the world treats and talks about breast cancer and has helped turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors. Since 1982, Komen has funded more than $956 million in research, more than $2.1 billion in medical care, community and provider education, and psychosocial support, serving millions in over 60 countries worldwide.
Dance in Pink’s founder, Nidhi Mehta Seth, moved to the United States from India in 2002. Growing up in India, Nidhi doesn’t remember women’s health issues ever being discussed. She had never even heard of breast cancer until she moved to the United States. Wanting to help raise awareness among the south Asian community and help underprivileged women with free mammograms and medical assistance, she began hosting small events to help women start a conversation with their doctor about breast cancer. While not personally experiencing breast cancer herself, Nidhi has been raising money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation since 2012 by participating in the Komen 3-Day Walk and hosting events like Dance in Pink.
Come out this Saturday and join Nidhi and the rest of the community for three hours of dancing and fun, all for a very worthy cause!
