The Molly Moon’s X Hood Famous Bakeshop Calamansi Cheesecake ice cream launched on Monday, August 6, in all scoop shops.  On August 19, from 2-4 p.m., Molly Moon’s will pop up at Hood Famous’ Ballard bakeshop with its ice cream tricycle to sample the Calamansi Cheesecake flavor. Showcasing the Calamansi fruit which is a hybrid between a kumquat and a mandarin orange, and is native to the Philippines, this uniquely delicious flavor will only be available through August.

On August 16, Molly Moon’s is also launching its new coffee flavor in collaboration with the Central District’s Union Coffee, which is owned and operated by Molly’s husband, Zack Reinig. The special “Good Together” blend used to spin this new buzz-worthy flavor, was selected by Zack in partnership with Olympia Coffee Roasters, and speaks to the complementary strengths shared by Molly and Zack, as well as the perfection achieved when you combine ice cream and coffee. To create the new Union Coffee flavor, the Molly Moon’s culinary team makes a concentrated cold brew by using modern profile, naturally-processed beans that are, after steeping for 48 hours, mixed with cream, milk, sugar, and freeze-dried coffee made from Olympia Coffee’s Big Truck organic espresso blend. This ice cream isn’t just any ordinary coffee flavored ice cream, it’s a food science-y, coffee nerd/devotees dream turned reality in a cone!

To celebrate the Union Coffee flavor launch, Molly Moon’s and Union Coffee are packaging the “Good Together” blend for home brewers, as well as hosting three pop ups! The first two are with Union Coffee popping up at Molly Moon’s Capitol Hill and Madrona on Saturday, August 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sunday, August 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. respectively. Then, on Wednesday, August 22, from noon to 3 p.m., Molly Moon’s will pop up at Union Coffee with multiple ice cream flavors for affogatos of all kinds. All three pop up event menus are featuring a Moonshot in the Dark, which is a scoop of Union Coffee ice cream with two shots of espresso poured over the top and then dusted with chocolate sprinkles.

And finally, inspired by Pearl Jam’s community-leading efforts to combat homelessness, Molly Moon’s is launched its Home Show sundae on Monday, August 6, with all proceeds from the sales of the sundae being donated to The Home Fund. To sweeten the deal, Pearl Jam is generously matching all donations. The Home Show sundae, which will be available at all Molly Moon’s scoop shops through September 3, is comprised of sweet cream ice cream topped with homemade peach jam, sprinkled with bits of vanilla meringue and capped with a dollop of whip and a cherry.
