IslandWood is thrilled that Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor, coauthors of the New York Times Best Seller, Traveling with Pomegranates: A Mother-Daughter Story will serve as the keynote speakers for the weekend’s festivities. Sue Monk Kidd is best known as the author of The Secret Life of Bees and Ann Kidd Taylor is the author of The Shark Club.

IslandWood was founded in 2000 as an environmental learning center created to improve access to meaningful, nature-based learning experiences for our region’s children. In the nearly two decades since, they have expanded the way their work is advancing innovative and inclusive education that fosters greater environmental health, a sustainable future, and social and ecological well-being for all.

During Circle of Friends, participants will have space and time for exchanges with each other, as well as deep personal reflections. Your stay on IslandWood’s beautiful, 255-acre wooded campus includes two nights of accommodation in comfortable sleeping lodges, sustainably prepared meals, and freedom to participate in a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities.

This restorative weekend – highlighted by discussions with Sue Monk Kidd and Ann Kidd Taylor – is sure to uplift and inspire as you learn and connect with nature, yourself, and friends. See the weekend itinerary and workshop descriptions here. They are also in the process of developing workshops on drumming, jewelry making, painting and writing.
