Starting this Thursday, April 4 through Monday, April 8, Universal Standard (a size-inclusive brand who is making big waves in the fashion and body positive spaces) is doing something they’ve never done before…wait for it….
A sample sale!
A one-time, all-out, too-good-to-believe sample sale where you can get some of their top styles for some of their lowest prices. In honor of the occasion, they have pulled together some tips on how to get exactly what you’re looking for. Here’s what you need to know:
1. PLAN AHEAD
The sale will last from THIS Thursday to Monday, so pick some times that will work for you to swing by Belltown. Drop the pin on Google maps, and plan your route – they are just 5 minutes away from Pike Place Market! Check sale hours (10 AM – 7PM), and think about what else you’ll want to do in the neighborhood. Do food and drinks at Queen City, or see what other errands you’ll want to run in the neighborhood.
2. COME EARLY, LEAVE HAPPY
The earlier in the week you come, the more styles and sizes there will be. So for the best possible haul, take on a “sooner-is-better” philosophy.
3. SCAN YOUR CLOSET
Before you head over, take a look in your closet and think about where the holes are. Tops? Dresses? Jeans? Sweaters? Jackets? What’s missing? They’re including a lot of essentials that can easily go from season to season, year to year, so think ahead – what are the pieces you’ll want a couple of months from now? Remember, a lot of these styles aren’t coming back, so waiting won’t be worth it!
4. BYOF (BRING YOUR OWN FRIENDS)
Shopping is always more fun with friends, right? Not only will you have more arms to hold your haul and protect your pile of picks, you’ll also have a panel to “yay” or “nay” every look. Go the extra mile and make signs, then cue the movie montage music.
5. BE SIZE SAVVY
Don’t know your size? Do your research! Check out their size chart, take some measurements, and see where you fall. Then you can reach for what’s right in the moment, and save some time. Are you an in-betweener? No worries – just try two at a time!
6. WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES (& BRING YOUR HEELS)
This one is a no-brainer. Don’t be a hero – wear your sneakers or comfy boots. You’ll last longer sifting through product, and be happier while you wait your turn for a fitting room. Pack your most-worn mid-height heels for any necessary quick outfit swaps that’ll help you get the full picture from look to look.
7. YOU’LL LIKE LIGHT LAYERS
Consider wearing light layers – camis, thin tees, leggings – that way you won’t have to strip all the way down to see how your picks fit.
8. LAST CALL
Chances are they’ll do deeper price cuts on the last day, so you may want to consider coming back on Monday to see what last call looks like. You might even see some things priced as low as 80% off… Yes, they are serious!
9. FINAL FINAL SALE
FYI – all the pieces you purchase will be final sale. No returns. No exchanges.
10. CALENDAR
Finally, and most importantly, mark your calendars and set your alarms. This is a one-time thing, so missing it is not an option.
