Seattle summers are worth celebrating. What the sun is to Seattleites, Pokémon GO was for introverts: a phenomenon that influences people to leave the house – and socialize, maybe. We search for our abandoned, dusty sunglasses, roll down our car windows – to feel that old friend we call the sun – and go out.
Whether at the park, the beach or a backyard BBQ, you’ll usually spot a few summer essentials: hats, sunglasses, sunscreen (which should be used even on cloudy days) and refreshing beverages.
Seattle-based DRY has added to our summer repertoire with its limited-edition DRY Sparkling Summer Celebration bottles in two classic, seasonal fruit flavors, pineapple and watermelon; it’s hydration and day drinking, minus the hangover.
Consider the botanical bubblies as non-alcoholic alternatives to rosé or champagne. If you’ve got that hankering for a little something extra, the lightly sweet botanical bubbly can be mixed into a refreshing mocktail. The drinks also pair well with different foods, making them BBQ and picnic must-haves.
- Watermelon DRY Sparkling – cool, refreshing and packed with juicy watermelon essence; pairs well with grilled shrimp, prosciutto, kebabs, lobster rolls or potato salad.
- Pineapple DRY Sparkling – a fresh, bubbly beverage brimming with ripe, tropical pineapple flavor; pairs well with teriyaki chicken, chopped salads, avocado toast or poke.
DRY –meaning “less sweet” and alcohol-free – got its start in 2005 when founder Sharelle Klaus, who was in between pregnancies and nursing, wanted a less sweet non-alcoholic option worthy of pairing with a great meal. She experimented with her own natural concoctions in her kitchen using fresh fruits, herbs, spices and an in-home carbonation system. Through trial and error, Klaus created different variations of culinary-inspired, botanical flavors.
Both Summer Celebration bottles are designed with watercolor paintings by South African artist Magrikie Berg. DRY has two lines of beverages, DRY Zero Sugar and DRY Sparkling, which are can be found in over 10,000 retailers nationwide, including Kroger, HEB, Safeway and Amazon. All DRY Sparking flavors, including the Summer Celebration bottles, are Non-GMO Project Verified, caffeine-free, gluten-free, OU certified kosher, alcohol-free and sodium-free.
