If you love Musashi in Seattle, Bellevue and Redmond, you’ll love the little brother of the restaurants, Miyamoto, now open in Tacoma!

Miyamoto is located at 2919 S 38th St, next to Guitar Center, between Pine and Cedar Street. Miyamoto just recently celebrated their soft opening on September 23 and due to COVID, putting up their restaurant sign was delayed, so as of this writing, the restaurant is a little difficult to see, but if you put “Wabi Sabi Tacoma” into your GPS, you’ll find it! I’ll update this post once everything is completed.

“We are very excited and happy to be at Tacoma such a nice friendly neighborhood,” Miyamoto partner, Daner Sheng said. “2020 is a very difficult year for all of us but we accept the challenge will keep working hard and bringing more delicious and affordable food to all our dear customers.”

My boyfriend Kyle and I recently had the chance to try out some of the items on their menu. Final verdict? We will be back and bringing our friends! The restaurant space is quite large and social-distancing friendly, the decorations are beautiful and everyone on staff were incredibly friendly. The food goes without saying – if you want to taste some of the freshest sushi in the Puget Sound, you need to visit Miyamoto! Everything we tasted was absolutely delectable.

Japanese Tea – perfect to begin our lunch as it was a cold and rainy day outside.
The yakitori and gyoza were salted and seasoned perfectly.
The wakame in the miso was so flavorful!
The batter on the vegetable tempura was light and airy but still had a satisfying fried crunch.
From top to bottom: Rainbow Roll, Hot Spicy Tuna Roll and Spider Roll. Rolled perfection!

If you live in Tacoma, I highly recommend visiting Miyamoto! You will not be disappointed and you may find your new favorite sushi restaurant!
