Not long ago, we shared the Power of Pike Place campaign that’s going on, but now we wanted to share with you what exactly the Pike Place Market Foundation is and all the good they do!
Established in 1982, the Pike Place Market Foundation elevates the charter of the Market by partnering with, as well as operating and sustaining, a network of programs and services to support small businesses, low-income residents, workers, families and neighbors of the Market. It’s home to low-income housing, a senior center, food bank, preschool and community health clinic. Over the past 38 years, the Foundation has:
- Granted $36M+ to support more than 500 units of low-income housing, community healthcare, access to healthy food, a high-quality preschool and more
- Funded essential capital needs within the district
- Supported a healthy community model allowing a diverse community to find stability in housing, healthcare and support services, plus opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship in Seattle’s historic Market

In 2019 alone, the Pike Place Market Foundation raised money to support:
- 1,505 senior center members received 53,256 nutritious meals
- 1.16 million lbs. of food distributed to 6,603 food bank shoppers
- Access to high quality learning for 110 children with 73% of families receiving tuitions assistance at its preschool
- 23,895 healthcare visits for 4,025 patients at its Neighborcare Health
- Assisted 24/7 living care for 68 residents at its Heritage House
- The Market Community Safety Net assisted 103 people last year with emergency funds and support resources
